Tuesday Tidbits (August 13, 2019)

APEX Fun Run on Thursday!

Thank you to all who’ve donated in support of the APEX Fun Run at Hedenkamp! The APEX Fun Run is this Thursday, August 15! Here is the schedule by grade level:

K – 2nd Grade —  9:00-10:00am

5th – 6th Grade — 10:00-11:00am

3rd – 4th  Grade — 11:00-12:00am

We could really use your help as a volunteer during the APEX fun run! Please plan to arrive on Thursday morning, at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled run times. Help is needed during every run, so if you are able to stay for more than one group, please do! Please remember to check in at the front office, and then head over to the APEX tent on the grass field to get a marker and instructions. Thank you for volunteering! 

Paper Donation Drive

Thank you to the parents who’ve donated reams of paper! PTA is still collecting copy paper to benefit the school and your donations are needed! Please send your paper donation to your child’s teacher by August 29. The upper and lower grade classrooms collecting the most paper will be rewarded with a pizza party. Kona Ice this Friday

Enjoy your favorite flavor of shave ice with your child! Kona Ice will be on campus on Friday, August 16th afterschool on the blacktop. Prices vary, $4-7 each. Kona Ice will donate a portion of proceeds to Hedenkamp PTA.

Back to School Movie Night

PTA is excited about the first community event of the school year, featuring Incredibles 2! Please join us!

Additionally, Hedenkamp PTA Members will receive one free bag of popcorn per membership during Movie Night! Not yet a member? That’s okay, you can join PTA today!

When: July 26 @ 7:00 PM (Concession opens @ 6:30)*

Where: School Field

Bring chairs and blankets to make yourself comfortable. Feel free to bring your own food or purchase* from the PTA concession stand. We look forward to seeing you there!

PTA Membership Drive

The Hedenkamp PTA Membership Drive and classroom contest has begun and will continue through August 9, 2019. The upper and lower grade classrooms with the highest total new memberships through August 9th will each receive a pizza party and Scholastic prize. Did you know that PTA memberships expire each year? Your annual membership supports all students. Please join Hedenkamp PTA or renew your membership to enjoy special perks for PTA members! Thank you for your contribution!

Hedenkamp Elementary PTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. There are no refunds. 

PTA General Meeting—Save the Date!

The first PTA General Association meeting of the school year will occur on Wednesday, August 7 at 5:30pm in the Library. All are welcome, but only PTA members are eligible to vote… another great reason to join PTA! We hope you can attend!  

Tuesday Tidbits (February 26, 2019)

PTA Meeting

There will be a PTA meeting next week on March 6th at 5:30 PM in the Hedenkamp Library. We will be voting on the PTA board as well as discuss upcoming events. We look forward to seeing you there.

BOGO Book Fair

One of our favorite events of the year, the “Buy One Get One” Free Annual Book Fair is upon us from March 11th to the 15th in the Hedenkamp MPR. There are many ways for your student to get involved including a coloring contest and donating to All For Books. We want to keep kids interested, engaged, and READING!

This year, teacher’s will have an opportunity to create classroom wish lists which is a great way to support your child’s classroom. Our school gets back 55% of each purchase, and we use the proceeds to help provide supplies for the kids.

As you know, we cannot do these events without the help and support of parents and grandparents like you! Please take a moment to review our volunteer sign up. We make it as fun, and painless as possible! There are also opportunities for high school students to earn community service hours.

We are excited to announce this new way to pay for your child’s favorite books this year! E-wallet is a digital way to pay that eliminates the need for cash. Set a monetary limit for your child hooked up to your debit\credit card (extended family can send money too!) And when the fair ends, any remaining money will be released back to you! 2018 – 2019 Yearbooks are available for purchase on our webstore until March 15th.

Yearbooks cost $35 and a personalized version is available for $40. They will be delivered at the end of the year. A limited amount of yearbooks will be available for purchase at the end of the year for $50.

They are only available through the website and there are no refunds.

If you have pictures of any school events like field trips, dances, Husky Howl, etc. for the 2018-2019 school year that you think might be good for the yearbook, please email it to historian@huskiespta.com. Please include your child’s or children’s name, grade, and their teacher’s name. You just might see it in the yearbook!
