Hedenkamp has earned a “Silly Sock Day” for Monday, September 19, for reaching 100 PTA members! Please spread the word to become a member by visiting huskiespta.com/membership. We will also have a PTA table in front of the school on Tuesday, September 20, from 1:30-2:30 pm, with free popcorn for PTA members. Non-members can sign-up at the table with $10 in cash (or sign-up online via smartphone).
Help us reach our end goal of 400 PTA members! Every time we reach a goal, the school gets a prize:
150 members: Principal sings a song!
200 members: Pajama Day!
250 members: Free homework pass!
300 members: Popsicles!
350 members: Pie in Principal’s face!
400 members: Extra recess!
Husky Wear Sale
We will have 240+ shirts available for sale in 3 different designs/colors per the flyer above. Additionally, we’ll have samples of items available for pre-sale (pay now and shipment will arrive later). Pre-sale items are pullover hoodies, full zip hoodies, soft shirts, and v-neck shirts. We’ll have a table for pre-sales (example of order form, pricing varies depending on size) and a table for regular sales.
Scholastic Fall Book Fair Volunteers
We will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair next week, from Monday, September 19 to Friday, September 23.
The Scholastic Book Fair empowers our students to choose books they love, and with so many options, they’re sure to find themselves in the pages. We hope that you can offer your time and talents to help students become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers – which in turn makes them bolder, prouder, and stronger individuals. And since every purchase benefits our school, helping is twice as rewarding.
Cleared Volunteers can sign-up for as many time-slots as available.
Non-Cleared Volunteers can volunteer a maximum of 2 days. This only applies if the slots are during school hours. Before and after school slots have not limits.
Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) students can volunteer to help with the book fair. They have to follow the same volunteer guidelines as adult volunteers. Student volunteers can help with the trinket table, manning the traffic at the door, and helping students. Students can not sign up for the cash register slots.
As a token of our appreciation, volunteers can select 1 book ($15 max) of their choice. 1 book max per book fair. Only volunteers signed-up will receive a book.
Early bird pricing of $30 for the 2022-2023 Hedenkamp Elementary Yearbook is available now until December 31st! You also have the option to personalize the front of the yearbook with a name for an additional $5. Order a yearbook now at huskiespta.com/yearbook.

PTA Executive Board
There’s a lovely red paw print as a placeholder for our VP Fundraising position, when it could be replaced with your lovely face instead! Most of our fundraisers are already established as well. If you are interested, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Apex Fun Run Fact Sheet
Thank you to everyone that supported the Apex Fun Run whether with encouragement, volunteerism, and/or pledges. Check out the Fact Sheet above for a summary on how our Huskies did. Also, as a reminder, please share any photos you might have with email@example.com to possibly be used for the yearbook.
Robeks will come again this Monday, September 19 (which isn’t part of the “every other week” pattern) to sell strawberry and mango flavored smoothies, in front of the school, but this time at 1:55 pm (minimum day dismissal time for 1st-6th grade, due to Parent/Teacher Conferences). Please note that quantities are limited.
Our National PTA hosts a Teacher Talk Miniseries “Notes from the Backpack” podcast. Episode 61 is on Supporting Children through School Transitions, featuring guest Deborah Farmer Kris. Whether your child is struggling to get out the door in the morning, experiencing anxiety in the classroom or melting down when they get home, Deborah has advice to ease your back-to-school transition.
Our Husky T-Shirt Fall Sale this morning was such a huge success that we sold out of shirts! We will be cancelling our afternoon pop-up sale that was originally scheduled for 1:00-2:30 pm (Friday, August 12, 2022).
It was great to see the excitement of our Husky families enjoying the Husky Huddle and our new t-shirt designs.
We will be ordering more shirts to have another pop-up sale again this year! Add your e-mail address to subscribe to our Hedenkamp PTA blog (so you’ll get e-mails every time a post such as this is made), and follow us on Twitter to be kept up to date.
