PTA Executive Board nominations are open! Get involved with your PTA!
The nomination committee is currently seeking parent volunteers who can serve on the Hedenkamp Elementary PTA Executive Board for the 2023-2024 school year.
Would you like to volunteer in the spirit of support for students, teachers, and the Hedenkamp community? Do you know someone who would like to join our team of Hedenkamp PTA volunteers?
All day Wednesday, January 18, show the flyer above (or mention Hedenkamp Elementary) at California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) Otay Ranch Towne Centre location to help support Hedenkamp PTA.
20% of proceeds will be donated (not valid on orders placed or fulfilled through third-party delivery).
If you aren’t familiar with CPK, they don’t just serve pizza, they also have salads, soups, pastas, sandwiches, etc.
The Loko Bean Cafe coffee cart will be returning to Hedenkamp Thursday mornings (but excluding this coming Thursday, January 19) from 6:30-9:00 am at the bus loop. The coffee cart includes espressos, lattes, mochas, and more.
% of proceeds goes to Hedenkamp PTA.
If you are interested in ordering for a Hedenkamp teacher or staff member, but maybe don’t have the time, you can text 858-997-6542 with the name of who you’d like to order for, and the order, and PTA will order and deliver on your behalf, followed by Venmo payment request.

The 2022-2023 Hedenkamp yearbook includes all grades and features photos of students, teachers, staff, school clubs and events. It is a great way for your Husky to remember their time at Hedenkamp! Preorder your yearbook for $35. You can have their name printed on the cover for an additional $5. Sorry, early bird pricing ended on December 31, 2022.
Preorder your yearbook at the Hedenkamp PTA Web Store. Deadline to purchase a yearbook is April 2, 2023.
Yearbooks will be distributed by the last day of school, pending the printer.
Yearbook Love Lines
Yearbook love lines (aka boosters) are short personalized messages to family, friends, staff and students that are placed at the end of the yearbook. They are a great way to send a special message to your child recognizing all the hard work they have put into the school year. Love lines can be written to Huskies in all grades (students and staff) and there is no limit to how many you can order.
A love line costs $5 and may contain up to 100 characters (including spaces and punctuation). Purchase online at the Hedenkamp PTA Web Store. Deadline to purchase love lines is March 1, 2023.
Please note that all messages will be reviewed before they are placed in the yearbook. E-mail yearbook@huskiespta.com with any questions you may have.

6th grade parents if you can share this with your 6th graders:
The yearbook wants a photo of your favorite memory from being at Hedenkamp! Was it running alongside your friends at the Apex Fun Run, marching in the Kindergarten Community Workers Parade, a field trip to Old Town, playing with your friends on the blacktop or meeting your teacher for the first time?
Whatever it is, have your parents find a photo of it and email it to yearbook@huskiespta.com by March 1, 2023. Please include the 6th grader’s name and the name of the teacher in your email.

National PTA Healthy Lifestyles
Making small changes as a family today can make a big difference for everyone’s mental health and well-being tomorrow. It can be hard to know where to start, but National PTA’s Healthy Minds Family Action Plan can help you commit to actions that will support your family’s well-being:
National PTA Standards Webinar Series
National PTA’s Center for Family Engagement is partnering with the Institute for Educational Leadership for a five-part webinar series to help district, school and parent/community leaders explore our six National Standards for Family-School Partnerships through panel discussions with leading practitioners, researchers and policymakers who are improving family-school partnerships so that all children can reach their full potential.
Hedenkamp has earned a “Silly Sock Day” for Monday, September 19, for reaching 100 PTA members! Please spread the word to become a member by visiting huskiespta.com/membership. Scholastic Fall Book Fair Volunteers
Volunteers needed for Scholastic Book Fair
We will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair next week, from Monday, September 19 to Friday, September 23.
The Scholastic Book Fair empowers our students to choose books they love, and with so many options, they’re sure to find themselves in the pages. We hope that you can offer your time and talents to help students become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers – which in turn makes them bolder, prouder, and stronger individuals. And since every purchase benefits our school, helping is twice as rewarding.
Cleared Volunteers can sign-up for as many time-slots as available.
Non-Cleared Volunteers can volunteer a maximum of 2 days. This only applies if the slots are during school hours. Before and after school slots have not limits.
Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) students can volunteer to help with the book fair. They have to follow the same volunteer guidelines as adult volunteers. Student volunteers can help with the trinket table, manning the traffic at the door, and helping students. Students can not sign up for the cash register slots.
As a token of our appreciation, volunteers can select 1 book ($15 max) of their choice. 1 book max per book fair. Only volunteers signed-up will receive a book.
